Quick-Pads Module 6.8 x 3.6 - Package
Using Quick-Pads - 1 - Position PCB
Position PCB over the plastic holder by aligning to location markers on the left. This setup acts as a PCB stationary work-bench to speed-up circuit construction.
Using Quick-Pads - 2 - Solder Components
With a double-sided PCB, it is best to solder components and wires on the top side. This allows mixing of through-hole and SMT components easily.
Using Quick-Pads - 2 - External Connections
Built-in header pin footprints permit convenient connections to external world. metering probe points on these pins free hands for taking measurements.
Using Quick-Pads - 4 - Header Connector
A header pin style connector within the PCB holder connects power reliably to the user circuit board and can be daisy-chained to the next board easily.
The Pads-PCB is designed for circuit proto-typing with ease of use. These boards are built using fiber-glass material with durable double-sided pads, an ideal alternative to building a costly custom PC board.
Large plated through pads allow the option of soldering n both sides of the board. In practical use, top-side soldering is recommended since the PCB mounts on matching plastic holder, which acts as a stationary PCB workbench to free hands for circuit construction and testing. With the proliferation of SMT parts, such as the common 0805 family of R, L, C chips, top-side soldering becomes mandatory and renders single sided boards unsuitable.
Soldering circuits on the top-side indeed offers many advantages over bottom-side soldering for through-hole components. Some of the merits are:
1. It is much faster and less error prone by avoiding frequent flipping of the working PCB.
2. Inserted components don't need to have leads bent and trimmed to the exact length before soldering.
3. Component removal is made easy due to straight leads and PCB held by plastic holder.
4. Large pad holes accept two or more leads in one pad, allowing for more compact circuits with reduced jumper wires between pads.
5. One pass trimming of components leads can be done at the end when the whole or portions of a circuit has been done properly.
Quick-Pads PCBs come in four sizes. By interlinking additional holders, PCB space can easily be expanded. There is also a full line-up of LAB-EASY proto-typing products designed to make your project building easier, faster and more satisfying.
