This is a slightly used Extech Non Contact Photo Tachometer Adapter. It requires the use of a Digital Multimeter. This adapter emits a visible light beam to a rotating target that has a piece of reflective tape applied to it. As the target is rotated the adapter reads the light pulses and converts this into a DC millivolt signal that your DMM will read. The low range, 100-1999 RPM. Sends 0.1mV per 1 RPM and the High range, 1000-19,999RPM. Sends out 0.1mV per 10 RPM. So you need a good DMM with a DC millivolt scale. This adaptor uses 4 AA batteries which are not included. And you also need to get some reflective tape for the target. This adapter was purchased from Grainger. Grainger no.1M920 with a listed price of 129.00usd. It is approx. 1 year old and has been used only two times by me. It has never been dropped or abused in any way. It works 100%.
