Cleveland makes these reamers out of a quality grade of selected high speed steel and puts them thru a well developed heat treating process. They are ground to controlled tolerances to produce accurately sized holes with smooth surface finishes.
This size of reamer should be used to remove .010 to .025 of stock. Stock removal less than .010 could cause burnishing, stock removal greater than .025 will greatly decrease the life of the tool.
The general rule of thumb for reaming speeds for standard steels is 2/3 of the standard drilling speeds for a drill that is the same size of the reamer. Consult your machinist hand book when doing exotic metals. The primary use of a coolant is too obtain a better surface finish. Try to avoid hand grinding to resharpen.
