Here are just a few common applications:
· Antenna transmission lines - to keep RF from flowing down the outside of the coaxial shield.
· Mobile transceivers - on DC power lines to eliminate ignition interference.
· Filter radio signals out of your telephone lines.
· Eliminate RF interference to your TV, VCR and DVD player.
· Minimize false alarms to your burglar alarm caused by RF.
Often, one or two are not enough to do the job. If you double the number of chokes on a line, the suppression effect also doubles.
If you use these for smaller coaxial cables such as RG-174, or for stripping RF from wire conductors, you should loop the wire or cable through the ferrite core as many times as it will fit. Each additional loop is the same as adding another ferrite choke.
