DIFFUSE OPERATING PRINCIPLE: The light-emitting diode (LED) emits a beam of modulated ligth towards the target. The beam is interrupted by the target causing partial reflection. A part of the light reaches the sensing face of the receiver. The pulsed light emitted from the diode can fall on an object of any shape or color and is refelcted in a diffuse manner. Diffuse sensors contain the transmitter and receiver in the same housing. If the intensity of the received light reflected from the target is suffient, the output is switched. The attainable operating distance depends on the target size, shape, color and surface texture and can be adjusted by the on board potentiometer. The darker the surface typically shorter the sensing distance.
