5 - vacuum fluorescent display 7-segment, 13 digits nos

You will receive Five(5) NEW - 13 Character, 7-Segment Vacuum Fluorescent Displays. These displays are NOS and were probably originally utilized in desktop calulators. They were manufactured by Futaba Corporation (http:// /products/displays/general_info/introduction/index.asp) and the Part No. is 13-ST-77ZRA.
The VFD is a vacuum tube using hot filaments to generate thermo-electrons, A grid (static display type) or multiple grids (multiplexed display type) control and diffuse the thermo-electrons, which are attracted to one or more high voltage phosphor coated anodes, which then emit light. The anodes are at the back of the display, so the emitted light passes through the grid(s) and filaments and the display front to be seen by the user. The filaments are not run hot enough to be usually visible.
Seven segments per digit are used to display numerical information. Typical applications are clocks, instrumentation, counters, calculators, cash registers, scales, VCR, stereos, carradio and in other electronic equipment. This type of display gives a bright light with great contrast.
The VFD is composed of three basic electrodes; the Cathode (Filaments), Anodes (Phosphor) and Grids under a high vacuum condition in a glass envelope. The Cathode consists of fine tungsten wires which are coated by alkaline earth metal oxides which emit electrons. The Grids are a thin metal mesh which control and diffuse electrons emitted from the Cathode. The Anodes are conductive electrodes on which the phosphor is printed to indicate characters, icons or symbols.
Electrons emitted from the Cathode are accelerated with positive potential applied to both Grid and Anode, which upon collision with the Anode excites the phosphor to emit light. The desired illuminated patterns can be achieved by controlling the positive or negative potentials on each Grid and Anode. This voltage can be as low as 10VDC.
The VFD is 3-1/2" (95mm) Wide x 3/4" (30mm) High.
Digits are 1/8" (3mm) Wide x 1/4" (6mm) Tall.
